Hallmark Channel parent CEO Bill Abbott is stepping down, Hallmark Cards Inc. said, weeks after the channel found itself in a firestorm of controversy when it pulled an ad featuring a same-sex marriage, only to reverse its decision three days later.
Mr. Abbott’s departure as president and chief executive of Crown Media Family Networks will be effective on Friday, Hallmark Cards said in a statement Wednesday.
Biggest mistake was pulling the ad. But a close second was bending to pressure and reinstating the ad. Apologies and retractions don't work against the Outrage mob. They still come after you even if you apologize.

Well, I would say the Gays win again, but we already won with Hallmark reversing their inexcusably homophobic decision re: the lesbian ad. Regardless....let us hope this leads to a more inclusive Hallmark going forward.
