Fox News Channel anchor Bill Hemmer made his debut on 'Bill Hemmer Reporting' Monday afternoon, formally taking over the 3 p.m. ET hour left vacant by the exit of Shepard Smith

Monday afternoon, formally taking over the 3 p.m. ET hour left vacant by the exit of Shepard Smith. “I think overall we were pleased,” Hemmer told me after the first broadcast—and a champagne toast in Hemmer’s “Studio H” with Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott and Fox News Media President & Executive Editor Jay Wallace. “It’s always a bit of a dance to get it right, not just with the technology, but also with the personnel. I thought with the professionalism of our staff, we rose to the top.

The ratings on Hemmer’s debut represent double-digit increases compared to the 2019 averages for Shepard Smith Reporting, with Hemmer boosting total viewers by 37% and viewers in the key demo by 34%. In an internal memo distributed to Fox News staff, Scott and Wallace said of Hemmer, “today we ushered in a new era at Fox News Media with the debut of , an informative breaking news hour featuring key newsmakers driving the headlines. Bill’s terrific interviewing style and fact-based reporting has made him one of the most trusted anchors in news and we couldn’t be more proud to have him take over the 3 p.m. hour.
