Boeing is offering buyout packages to its workforce as it comes to grips with the coronavirus pandemic’s deepening toll on the aviation industry

By Andrew Tangel Updated April 2, 2020 12:53 pm ET Boeing Co. is offering buyout packages to its workforce as the plane maker comes to grips with the coronavirus pandemic’s deepening toll on the global aviation industry.

Related Boeing’s airline customers and some of its suppliers have already moved to reduce their labor costs as the pandemic wreaks havoc across the air-travel and aerospace industries. They have announced everything from layoffs to voluntary leave without pay. The plane maker employs almost 65,000 people who build commercial aircraft, with an additional 25,000 working in the unit that provides services to airlines.
