San Antonio's go-to costume shop, Starline Costumes, says it's about to start its next exciting chapter after a change in ownership last month.
Many were crushed after it was announced in October that the iconic costume shop was closing its doors in early 2023 following long-time owner Julie Keck’s retirement. But, sadness quickly turned back to joy after local businessman Jacob Dell revealed that he was buying the San Antonio favorite.
For 50 years, Starline Costumes has outfitted countless customers for Halloween parties, Renaissance fairs and stage shows. The store announced it would close after the retirement of owner Julie Keck, but sadness quickly turned back to joy after local businessman Jacob Dell revealed that he was buying the San Antonio favorite. On Tuesday, Starline Costumes posted that they will remain open for business under new ownership and costume rentals have finally resumed with their usual inventory.
“Thank you so much to the community for your continued support of this special business. We are so excited to begin our next chapter with all of you!” a post on Starline Costumes social media pages said. When the store first announced earlier this year that it was closing, the business shifted to purchase-only instead of its rental model.
