Wisconsin's Department of Workforce Development's top leader has resigned after failing to find a way to process tens of thousands of jobless benefit claims spurred by the virus pandemic.

MADISON, Wis. — The state Department of Workforce Development’s top leader resigned Friday after failing to find a way to address a massive backlog of unprocessed unemployment benefit claims sparked by the coronavirus pandemic.

Evers noted that more than 130 Department of Workforce Development employees have been reassigned to handle claims, bringing the total number of employees working on them to 1,500, up from 600. He said the agency’s technology is antiquated and claims have been slowed by Republican-created eligibility restrictions. But he said he has to make a change at the top of the department.

Messages left at the DWD seeking comment from Frostman or other officials weren’t immediately returned.

GovEvers WIWorkforce meanwhile my claims have stopped being processed because 1 week has an issue under review. While they review that 1 issue, all the subsequent weeks remain unprocessed even though the issue ONLY affects that one week and it would take 4 seconds to 'review.'

That's bad , really feel sorry for the people.

So, WI residents who filed for money haven't received it? Does the State have the money? Because it seems the Dem House wants more money for States like this that are mismanaged. I wonder why folks are pissed off. Why do citizens keep voting for Dem control?

This is on the heads of the Republicans Koch-blocking the governor and his attempts to shut down early to reduce COVID cases. If aggressive measures had been followed early and long enough WI would be in much better shape.

How about doing a story on the antiquated computers and software they have been using that’s contributing to the backlog?! That has been neglected under both Republicans and Democrats.

Just imagine what will happen to mail in ballots in Wisconsin!😐

NYSDOLCommish needs to resign as well. My claim is in limbo since June!

Hope they have a 6 month cushion.

But is he going to file for unemployment, because...

That ironic! Stop the BS! Vote Trump, vote red

University of Wisconsin-Madison grad student admits pretending to be a person of colorA graduate student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison has resigned from a teaching position after admitting on social media that they falsely claimed to be a person of color. It's possible as a person of Sicilian heritage that she has more African DNA than a Black person descended from slaves in the US. But that's not the same thing as culture and racial identity. I thought being a person of color was a disadvantage in America. Why are all these people pretending to be a person of color? You notice they all gained from the lie? Why would you want that

U.S. Unemployment Claims Held Steady at 860,000 Last WeekWeekly initial claims for jobless benefits fell by 33,000 to a seasonally adjusted 860,000 in the week ended Sept. 12, as layoffs remain elevated despite signs of a broader labor-market recovery. That’s because one could still work and file for unemployment. Next question.... Yeah.... as most people get back to work, the rate of people returning to work slow down... This is like 'day doesn't get much brighter after 9am' 57% of that is from California
