Signs across the Northwest Side of San Antonio now discourage residents from giving money to panhandlers. Council Member Manny Pelaez has placed signs throughout District 8 encouraging people not to give money to panhandlers but to outreach services instead. The signs reading “Panhandling — It’s OK to say no” now stand in hotspot areas, such as intersections along Interstate 10 , where people are known to stand at street corners with signs of their own asking for money.
