FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Saturday, Oct. 28, is national drug take back day. This effort provides communities across the country a reminder to gather up their unused or unwanted drugs and dispose of them in a safe way.From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Fairbanks Police Dept. officers will stand outside the station parking lot at 911 Cushman street, helping Fairbanks dispose of those unwanted substances. The North Pole Police Dept. will also be participating in national drug take back day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
They say it’s extremely important to participate in these proper disposal opportunities to keep dangerous substances out of the home and off the street. “Anytime that we can get these kinds of drugs off the street or out of homes, it’s a win,” said Ron Dupee, the Chief of police for the FPD.
These locations can also take in unwanted drugs year round.
