The Senate impeachment trial could wrap up by next Thursday or Friday if the White House decides not to use its full 24 hours for opening arguments, as the president's lawyer Jay Sekulow suggested.
Sekulow did not specify how much time the White House planned to use, saying "we'll make that determination" after the House impeachment managers finish their opening arguments. "I am confident that whether it is Saturday or Monday or Tuesday that the case will be made defending the president," Sekulow said. —President Donald Trump took off for the annual RNC Winter Meeting in Florida with just a wave to the press gathered outside the White House.
