The trial kicked off with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell revising two proposed rules for the proceedings, after he came under criticism for repeatedly claiming the trial rules would follow a precedent set by President Bill Clinton’s impeachment, but released a resolution that did not necessarily hew to those standards.
McConnell’s initial resolution, released Monday, allowed the Democratic House managers 24 hours to argue their case across two session days. Democrats could have gone to court to bring in the witnesses they wanted in the house. But no democrats were in a hurry & knew the courts would go well into 2020 to approve the witnesses! Now democrats want the senate to do what the house should have done.
Why didn't democrats go to court and compel them to testify or did democrats have pre planned schedule to maintain?
