The wet, windy weather is far from over in California.

Mission District pedestrians scramble home as a brutal storm hit San Francisco full force on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2023.The wet, windy weather is far from over. The National Weather Service's Weather Prediction Center is sounding the alarm bells with two more well-defined storms set to sweep California from Saturday to Tuesday, bringing more rain at a time when the state has already been soaked by recent storms.

The center is warning residents of Northern and Central California that"considerable flood impacts" and"dangerous mountain travel" will resume Saturday and carry into Tuesday.Thankfully, the region is getting a break from the rain Friday, offering the opportunity to clear gutters and storm drains, check trees around your home, stock up on groceries and go for a walk. The next storm is likely to bring showers to the North Bay as early as Friday night.

"We're already seeing plenty of moisture in our soils so it's still going to have impacts even though it's not as strong as the last one," Murdock told SFGATE on the phone. In the Saturday-Sunday storm, the coastal mountains of the North Bay could see up to 4 inches of rain and the Santa Cruz Mountains 2 to 3 inches.A second, more potent storm is forecast to swoop into the Bay Area on the heels of the prior one.

"The Sunday night into Tuesday afternoon storm is the one expected to be most impactful," Murdock said."There will probably be a lot of localized flooding as well as on rivers and streams, probably some very strong winds ahead of it, not as strong as from the system we saw the other night."

'Rivers in the sky': Graphics show atmospheric river soaking California's Bay AreaSometimes called 'rivers in the sky,' atmospheric rivers are a major factor in extreme rain and snowfall in the West.
