Scientists used Webb's MIRI (Mid-Infrared Instrument) to monitor light from the WASP-43 system every 10 seconds for more than 24 hours.

With the help of the James Webb Space Telescope, scientists have detected that wind speed on an exoplanet named WASP-43b—a hot gas giant that’s 280 light-years away from Earth—can reach up to 5,600 mph .

However, this temperature difference between the two sides of the planet results in fierce winds that can reach speeds of up to 5,600 mph . Since its discovery in 2011, WASP-43 b has been observed with numerous telescopes, including NASA’s Hubble and the now-retired Spitzer.
