Drivers move along Interstate 35E in heavy rain on Thursday, March 16, 2023. Much of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex was placed under several storm warnings throughout the evening as conditions worsened.Warm and muggy weather will fuel late afternoon thunderstorms later today. These storms will likely affect DFW between 3-6 p.m. While they won’t last long, some storms could be severe with large hail and damaging wind gusts.
The cold front bringing today’s storms will usher in much cooler weather for Friday and the weekend with high temperatures only in the 60s. In addition, more rain is set for Saturday. In fact, some areas could receive over 2″ of rain. A couple showers could stretch into Sunday morning, but the bulk of the wet weather this weekend will be on Saturday.Next week we begin the process all over again. A gradual warming trend will eventually lead to more thunderstorms late in the week.
