Francis wove his New Year's homily around the themes of motherhood and women - saying it was they who kept together the threads of life - and used it to make one of his strongest calls yet for an end to violence against them. During an Italian television programme last month, Francis told a woman who had been beaten by her ex-husband that men who commit violence against women engage in something that is "almost satanic".

I actually like this one. I think he honestly tries to make the world better. Unfortunately the Catholic Church’s appalling history of corruption and violence is too much to ever atone for.
People who commit violence against women do not care about God
The problem with this is that many of his followers only refrain from violence because they fear consequences to themselves rather than believe it’s actually wrong.
Should violence against anyone be insulting? I guess victim classifications apply with God as well. Tell God I said hello. He hasn't spoken with me in a while.

He says things to make himself feel better. It is what religion does. Insults are different than rape and other acts of violence against women. The idea and violence of his god is an insult to humans and other animals.
Does this mean an end to the barbarous practices of punishing women for exercising their human rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness? How about admitting women to the priesthood? If not, this is only lip service.
