The announcement came as a virtual hearing was being held in San Jose, California, as a follow-up to U.S. District Judge Lucy Koh’s preliminary injunction. The injunction ordered last week suspended the Census Bureau’s deadline for ending the head count on Sept. 30, which automatically reverted the deadline back to an older Census Bureau plan in which the deadline for ending field operations was Oct. 31.The new Oct.
Attorneys for the federal government said they were appealing the decision. During hearings, federal government attorneys argued that the head count needed to end Sept. 30 in order to meet a Dec. 31 deadline for handing in figures used for apportionment. In northern California, a manager told supervisors working under him on Sunday, “We’re in the home stretch with only 3 days left,” according to an email obtained by AP.
When a census supervisor asked why they were being pressured with the Sept. 30 deadline when Koh’s preliminary injunction prohibits the count from ending at the end of this month, Terrazas called the judge’s order “something completely different.”

This is clearly going to be lawsuit-level behavior at least. I think obviously the conservative judicial machine that’s been built is probably likely to let it go but they are going to need to find some legal basis for how doing that is proper and why this court order isn’t.

These people need to be shown the door. All they do is what the choose, and ignore our rules and laws that the rest of have to obey. If any of us were to disobey a Judges order, we would be picked up on a bench warrant and be brought before the Judge. It would end badly for us.

Sounds like the Trump administration has decided that laws just don't apply to them at all. If we want to reaffirm that we as a nation believe in the rule of law, I'd say it's time to send federal marshals to arrest Wilbur Ross until he agrees to comply with the judge's order.
I hope the Judge is informed of Sec Ross's comments. Then Sec Ross can learn about contempt of court and what US Marshalls do for a living

For context: there is nothing in the Constitution that prohibits the new Congress from ordering a new Census if there is reason to suspect that the Census of record is *grossly inaccurate*. And no, court orders are not *optional* if unchallenged in a higher court.
