The United States Capitol Police is beginning a 180-day body-worn camera pilot program to promote de-escalation tactics, build public trust, and enhance service to Congress and the community, officials announced Monday.

The cameras will record public interactions that require police response. Officers will manually turn on their body-worn cameras when they are taking action and will inform individuals if they are being recorded at the beginning of an interaction.
