The University of Houston is working on a contract extension and raise for David Rehr, the volleyball coach who led the Cougars on a historic run to the Sweet 16 this season, a source with knowledge of the talks said Monday.
Rehr, who was named the American Athletic Conference Coach of the Year, has one year remaining on the five-year deal he signed in 2019.Under Rehr, the Cougars had one of the best seasons in school history, a 30-4 record that included a program record 20 consecutive wins, a share of the AAC regular-season title and first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2000. UH beat South Dakota and Auburn to advance to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 1994.
