'We are reviewing USAID public websites and social media to archive content that could pose a risk to certain individuals and groups,' USAID told AP.

Federal agencies, including the U.S. Department of Agriculture , operated in Afghanistan and worked with civilians there. The scrubbed websites had articles and photos including Afghans that could be used by the Taliban or the group's supporters to identify them. The U.S. Agency for International Development said agencies that worked in Afghanistan started clearing webpages on Friday.

In addition, State Department Spokesman Ned Price said the agency told its employees to search for and take down social media and website content related to Afghan citizens. For more reporting from the Associated Press, see below. Price said the department was advising personnel to scrub content featuring civilians because the safety of Afghan contacts"is of utmost importance" to the government.

An official with the Agriculture Department said a similar scrubbing effort was underway there. That official spoke on condition of anonymity because they are not cleared to speak on the issue.

US and China cold war is real. Taliban was initially ousted by US in its refusal to allow Afghanistan to become a gateway for oil from Central Asian countries. Today it was called back by US, to stop Chinese projects in Afghanistan and neighbouring countries.
