For a political figure who can rifle off several norm-defying quotes in a span of minutes, a day and a quarter is a profound amount of time to spend with Trump — which may explain why the interview is such a bounty of outrageous statements.

Mulvaney intentionally coughed to ruin the take because Trump had said 'maybe' to releasing his 'financial statement' (tax records). Trump's lawyers, at this very moment, are fighting tooth and nail to preventing his records from coming out. 'Maybe' weakens their 'NEVER!' stance.
