TROY , Ohio -- A Troy man has been accused of manufacturing or possessing an explosive device, court documents revealed.
Miami County Municipal Court records indicate Steven Werling, of 1434 Barnhart Road in Concord Township, Ohio, near Troy, was arrested Thursday, April 4, following an FBI investigation at that address and near a self-storage unit on East Monument Avenue between Keowee and Taylor streets in Dayton.Ohio requires a certificate of registration or permit to manufacture or possess explosives.
The FBI said on Thursday that agents responded about 3 p.m. to the Troy and Dayton locations. Dayton 24/7 Now reporter Jenilee Borek said the agents were still on scene in Troy after 11 p.m. Thursday night.Werling is listed as a doctor on the Premier Health provider directory. He is a specialist practicing in gastroenterology.
"Dr. Werling is an independent practitioner with medical privileges at Upper Valley Medical Center. He is not employed by Premier Health or its affiliates and has no contractual relationship with the health system," a Premier Health spokesman said."This has been an extremely peaceful neighborhood. Probably one of the more established neighborhoods kind of, you know, just an older neighborhood. We’ve never had any problems, very family friendly. This is very surprising.
