Parks And Recreation News

The Parks and Recreation event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Woodlawn Lake Park will feature music, dance and free Fiesta medals.

Add some green fun to your Fiesta plans with a free Earth Day celebration at Woodlawn Lake Park hosted by San Antonio Parks and Recreation. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, the entire family can flex their green thumbs with fishing, outdoor fitness, plant and tree giveaways and a nature area for the kids. A DJ and a band — AM Project and Mike and the Coupes , respectively — are setting the soundtrack for the event, and on-stage entertainment will also be provided by student dancers.

The event recommends bringing reusable utensils and containers along to cut down on waste. Guests should also plan on taking along a reusable water bottle, which can be refilled at stations and water fountains around the park. Visitors won't have to miss out on the Fiesta revelry, as Queen of Soul London Nikol Keiler and Fiesta President Richard Sparr will be making an appearance to present the official poster and flag.
