It's been a struggle for many eateries to stay open during the pandemic, but closing down isn't much easier. One restaurant owner talks about what business was like and the thought process that led him to close his doors for good. WBUR

I was working for a major casino in New York City in the food and beverage department.When I moved to Boston, I was hired by a shellfish company as a warehouse manager.

[In early 2017], we finally got some acceptance and the business just took off. We were open on Monday to Friday for business, from 7 'til 3. I think between those five days we had over 500 checks every single day. There was times that before we open at 7 we had a line outside already. So, it was great. It was very great.

We were paying $8,000 a month [for rent] ... The landlord finally gave us a little break in terms of giving some rent reduction. That helped a little, but still wasn't enough.

WBUR Voters in MA and other states must never forget what governors did to the local economies and small businesses in the name of “science”

WBUR Restaurants should consider doing food courts again. Not just in Malls, which have also disappeared. As well as sharing restaurant spaces for similar cuisine.
