Minnesota Governor Tim Walz told protesters that they needed to"go home" on Saturday morning after another night of chaos in the streets of Minneapolis.
Gov. Walz issued his remarks shortly after a State of Emergency was declared and the Minnesota National Guard said it had deployed"more than 500 soldiers" to the area surrounding Minneapolis. This is life-threatening, dangerous to the most well-qualified forces that are out there facing this.
If this was an isolated incident, grief would be an appropriate response. When police summarily executing people of color becomes a pattern of behavior, the time for grieving is over.
