The documentary showcases trailblazing women in corporate leadership and initiates conversations on inclusivity. It also begs for a discussion on the challenges faced by Black women and the broader themes of representation, career advancement, and equity in corporate leadership, including on corporate boards.
Kimberly Bryant is another Black working mother who started her career in the chemical industry and eventually transitioned into a different industry. She foundedin 2011 and is today the founder and CEO of Black Innovation Lab. Bryant serves on two corporate boards: the National Champions Board for the National Girls Collaborative Project and the National Center for Women & Information Technology K-12 Alliance.
“This oversight not only diminishes the individual's contributions but also perpetuates a cycle of underrepresentation and undervaluation that hinders the career progression of Black working mothers,” explains Bryant.of Black children are raised by single mothers, compared to only 17% of all other children, exacerbating the childcare burden for Black mothers.
