Robbie Amell has opened up about the major DC twist behind his previously announced return to TheFlash Season 8.👀 WARNING! Spoilers ahead ➡️

Robbie Amell, who portrays Ronnie Raymond, breaks down his return in The Flash season 8, which came with a significant DC Comics twist. As The Flash has been airing for almost nine years, the show has featured a lot of characters from the DC Universe, both heroes and villains. One of the earliest superheroes introduced during Barry Allen's first year as the Scarlet Speedster was Firestorm, who consisted of Ronnie and Martin Stein.

However, the dead don't necessarily always stay dead in the Arrowverse, and The Flash is no exception. Last year it was announced that Amell would be reprising his DC character for at least two episodes in The Flash season 8, with details of how this would occur being kept heavily under wraps. In this week's The Flash season 8 episode,"Resurrection," the Black Flame arc took several steps forward, which included Ronnie, who viewers believed to be the fallen Firestorm.

"It was really cool. I got a phone call, and they were like, “Do you wanna come and do this?” And you know, whenever they ask, it’s always a yes. Of course! I’d love to! Then they were like, “It’s gonna be Deathstorm,” and I was like, “OK…selfishly, that’s way more fun for me.

This isn't the first time that The Flash has utilized the Deathstorm character. During The Flash season 2, when Barry visited Earth-2, he met Ronnie's evil doppelgänger, who operated as Deathstorm. However, this incarnation wasn't heavily based on the source material as it was simply a vicious version of Ronnie, who had kept Martin hostage inside his mind for years.

Following this major reveal, it remains to be seen how The Flash season 8 will finish the Deathstorm saga. While there is certainly a lot to speculate about, the Arrowverse drama shows the liberty it has gotten since Crisis on Infinite Earths soft-rebooted the franchise. With its continuity retooled, the writers have the opportunity to reimagine characters that either had a short run on The Flash or didn't have a major impact the first time around.
