The Dallas Morning News’ 2024 boys athletes of the year, all-area track and field awards

“I think we could have run 1:21 with a better handoff on a leg. Those tenths of a second matter,” Brookins said. “But I think the fact that they had a couple of races behind them actually helped. That second race, you have about a 10% increase in performance. That’s why if you look at a lot of meets, when they have prelims and you see a time, then you see the finals and they’ll be much faster.”

“We broke the record in the 4x100, but we didn’t set the national record,” Durham said. “For us to set it in the 4x200 meant a lot for me and my teammates and my coach.” “Running with these guys has me thinking to not just run in college, but to run next year,” Moore said. “I’m definitely thinking about it, knowing I could have another season running with my brothers.”
