Dallas Morning News reporters were honored over the weekend by the Education Writers Association for their beat reporting and news coverage.

Reporters Talia Richman, Marcela Rodrigues and Philip Jankowski were recognized for their coverage of education issues.

reporters were honored over the weekend by the Education Writers Association for their beat reporting and news coverage., as well as the beat reporting category for the large newsrooms division and the Ronald Moskowitz Prize for Outstanding Beat Reporting. Individuals are eligible for the Moskowitz Prize, one of the three top prizes, if they win the beat reporting award for their division.

“None of these articles would be possible without the trust of North Texas families,” she continued. “I’m grateful to every teacher, advocate, parent and student who picks up my calls and helps me translate the way real people are affected by education policy. I’m especially thankful to the Youngblood family, who let me into their lives during a hugely difficult time.

“I’m humbled and honored by this recognition,” Rodrigues said. “The Texas DEI ban has impacted dozens of universities across the state, leading campuses to terminate employees, eliminate student services and shut down departments. We started our coverage when the new law was still a bill in the Senate, but we decided to go beyond the politics to understand the real-world impact on students and staff.
