Thousands of Afghans flee fighting in southern Helmand province as US completes 2-6 percent pullout with equivalent of 60 cargo planes of material so far moved out

As part of the pullout, US forces handed over a base in Helmand to Afghan government troops two days ago.

"There was a thunderstorm of heavy weapons and blasts in the city and the sound of small arms was like someone was making popcorn," Mulah Jan, a resident of a suburb of the Helmand provincial capital Lashkar Gah, told Reuters news agency. In Washington, the US military said that about two to six percent of the withdrawal process had been completed so far.

Officials said the Taliban fighters initially captured some checkpoints but they were retaken by government forces who pushed back the insurgents. The deadline has been met with a surge in violence, with a car bomb in Logar province killing almost 30 people on Friday evening.

You the terrorists gave Afghanistan a blood bath, and now your concerns are well known? So in 20 years they havent been able to train enough people to protect themselves? Trillions of dollars wasted.

Afghan Taliban declares three-day ceasefire for Eid celebration this week -spokesmanTaliban insurgents said on Monday they would observe a three-day ceasefire in Afghanistan for the Muslim religious holiday of Eid, starting this week, after weeks of increasing violence that gripped the country. What about the 60 young girls you just killed when you blew up their school ? So who's blowing up the children? No ever claims responsibility. Ceasefire of that would be very nice It sounds like they are conciliatory and can sit down peaceful to exchange idea, what a harmonious scenery it is. So why don’t just act like this forever , to cope the argument and disagreement by communication rather than war. To protect the common citizens.
