Sushi Zushi alleges founder Alfonso Tomita continued to receive pay after his employment ended.

The management company that oversees Sushi Zushi restaurants has sued the San Antonio-based chain’s founder alleging that he continued to receive pay after his employment ended in April 2022. Sushi Zushi of Texas LLC seeks to collect more than $250,000, but no more than $1 million, from founder Alfonso Tomita in a lawsuit filed Thursday in state District Court in San Antonio.

Sushi Zushi of Texas noted in its lawsuit that it had executed an employment agreement with Tomita for him to be the company’s CEO in May 2018 and that they amended the agreement nearly two years later for Tomita to be chief marketing officer, though it’s unclear whether Tomita held both titles or only CMO after the amendement.

and Kemp. Such a trust is a court-imposed remedy to prevent the unjust enrichment of a party who has obtained property it should not be holding. Both Sushi Zushi of Texas and Kemp have filed answers denying Strategenic’s allegations.
