Supreme Court wades into long-running dispute over use of race as a factor in drawing Virginia’s state legislative districts--setting the stage for a decision that could reshape the electoral landscape in a key swing state on the eve of the 2020 election.

The Supreme Court Monday waded into a long-running dispute over the use of race as a factor in drawing Virginia’s state legislative districts, setting the stage for a major decision that could reshape the electoral landscape in a key swing state on the eve of the 2020 presidentialThe case centers on 11 state House of Delegates districts whose boundaries were drawn in 2011 following the 2010 census and have high numbers of black voters.

Justice Sonia Sotomayor seemed most receptive to that argument. “It’s hard for me to imagine how race is not predominant when they are drawing lines down the middle of a street” with black houses on one side and white houses on the other.Virginia Republicans hold a slim 2-seat majority both in the House of Delegates and the state Senate. Experts say redrawing the contested districts could give an advantage to Democrats headed into the fall campaign.

Virginia has been ranked as one of the most gerrymandered states in the country with districts drawn in many cases specifically to minimize the electoral influence of black Democratic voters, according to the nonpartisan Princeton Gerrymandering Project. Virginia’s Democratic Attorney General Mark Herring decided to let that ruling stand, opting not to appeal to the high court. The state’s Republican-led House of Delegates brought the appeal instead.

This is a job for the state's legislators. They drew up the map, live with it or draw up a new one.

Let’s see how heavy it will be

Redistricting another Dem. ploy just like fraudulent voteing that was rampant in last election, race card always played with Identity & Blame politics game.

Once again the California Monarchy have ruled against the voters. GavinNewsom ignores 2016 Proposition 62 and 66 - Ballots by the people voted to keep capital punishment. 2012 Proposition B Pension Reform canceled. Voters stand by to open your wallets

Stealing the voices of others....

Let’s see , this decision could effect our lifetime jobs we republican appointees are enjoying so much, how should we rule

This is wrong on every level and needs to be stopped immediately

The electoral process is irrelevant

I'm not surprised that democrats use race to define districts.

Cool BUT When is AndrewYangVFA Andrew Yang coming on the network yang2020

Opinion | How the Supreme Court weakened Congress on emergency declarationsTo understand how a 1983 Supreme Court decision dramatically affected the way the government works, consider what Congress had intended when it passed the National Emergencies Act. seems like a problem that should have been fixed 30 years ago, not when someone they don't like is using power they have Resolutions are meaningless jibberish until they are signed by the President, which will not happen. The basis of your whole story is false. What hasn't the Supreme Court weakened in the last 30 years? They've destroyed any chance at removing money from politics. Gerrymandering. Guns. Voting rights.
