U.S. Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett's Senate confirmation kicks off in earnest on Monday as Republicans seek to place her on the bench ahead of the presidential election next month in the face of blanket Democratic opposition.

Democrats have focused their criticism so far on Barrett’s potentially vital role in a case pending before the Supreme Court in which Trump and Republican-led states are seeking to invalidate the Affordable Care Act healthcare law, often called Obamacare.

Democrats have called on Barrett to recuse herself from the case, saying she would have a conflict of interest because Trump has called for the law to be struck down. Trump, who is running for re-election against Democrat Joe Biden, has indicated he would expect the court to rule in his favor if Barrett is confirmed.Barrett, a devout Catholic who has expressed opposition to abortion, is expected to face Democratic questioning on that issue too. Christian conservative activists long have hoped for the court to overturn the landmark 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling that legalized abortion nationwide.

Does she have an adult voice? This is like listening to a 12 yr old answer Senate questions.

Hardly a test. The fix is in 😞

CoryGroshek Can’t wait to see how the Dems make complete asses of themselves like they did with Kavanaugh.

Least qualified nominee in history

It's not a test It's a farce.

More like GOP railroading another inappropriate judge with the intention of taking away the ACA and woman’s rights.

I wish we had some damn STANDARDS for our highest court. 5 years of judicial experience would be a good start. NOT having HUGE debts paid off just before the hearings would be good (Kavanaugh). One judge owes someone big favors. This one belongs to religious commune.

Test? 🤥 Supreme Court Nominee Barrett Faces a Rushed Senate Confirmation Hearing Republicans have no scruples & no matter what happens during the hearing will jam her through before the election. Oligarchy in action Democracy be damned VoteEarly VoteBlueToSaveAmerica

No test. Done deal. What a joke of a process! The World is laughing at America. This just happens to be the latest reason.

What test? She’ll be confirmed no matter what.

What test? They’re rushing to put her as justice when they’re not supposed to. You need to rephrase.

Be she doesn't. She is not going to be vetted properly. Don't give the illusion that there is anything proper of how this process is unfolding with speed and secrecy

She could come in on Satan's shoulders, it wouldn't matter.

What test?! Bloody farce. Rammed into SCOTUS by the feckless and corrupt Senate “Majority”.

Even if she flies in on a broomstick the GOP will still vote her in! It’s disgraceful!
