WASHINGTON – The Supreme Court refused for a second time Wednesday to change Pennsylvania's election rules at the 11th hour, handing state Republicans a defeat in their effort to reimpose an Election Day deadline for the return of absentee ballots.
"The court’s handling of the important constitutional issue raised by this matter has needlessly created conditions that could lead to serious post-election problems," Alito wrote. Since then, Barrett was confirmed by the Senate and sworn in, giving state Republicans a potential fifth vote to consider their challenge on an expedited basis and revert to the Nov. 3 deadline. But the court acted without her participation.
The Supreme Court has been involved in such challenges since April, when it ruled 5-4 along ideological lines that absentee voting in Wisconsin could not be extended past the primary election date. That decision forced state residents who had not received absentee ballots to visit polling places during the early days of the pandemic.

Is this a news org? Absentee ballots have ALWAYS had an ED deadline. Mail ins are the real issue. This is the first time the state has done this. In the past absentees were counted at the precinct level. This year counted at the county level. Little transparency!

It doesn't 'leave it in place.' It said it will revisit the issue after the election, which is good, because we have seen what the Dems in our state are doing and we are not going to let them get away with any opportunity to create opportunities for voter fraud.

Just talked to the elections board. In PA, everything is suspect! IF you requested a mail-in ballot, THEN vote - you vote with a provisional ballot, then when the canvassing board confirms I did not submit a mail-in absentee ballot, your provisional ballot will be counted.
That means the dems have more time to cheat and try to steal the election.
That gives PA voters no clarity, because the Supreme Court could later decide that votes received after Nov. 3rd are not valid. Not worth the risk of having your vote disqualified. Vote in person or find a drop box.
Barrett did not participate.
