On one side will be the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and 43-year-old Tom Brady, the four-time Super Bowl MVP playing in a record-setting 10th Big Game — and his first without the New England Patriots. On the other, 25-year-old Patrick Mahomes, who will be gunning to deliver a second straight title for the Kansas City Chiefs.
It could go either way . The two passing legends have split their previous four matchups, the most recent going to Mahomes and the Chiefs, who beat the Bucs 27-24 in Week 12 of the 2020 NFL season. Prowess in grueling nail biters like that coupled with unrivaled dominance against less formidable foes, has made the two passers the game’s most marketable players.
For Mahomes, that’s meant national sponsorships with Adidas, Oakley, Head & Shoulders, State Farm, Bose, DirecTV, Essentia Water and Electronic Arts even before he won the Super Bowl last February. With a full plate of endorsements, Mahomes passed on dozens of offers after the Super Bowl win. One exception:with emerging nutrition brand BioSteel Sports Nutrition, eschewing any cash and taking an undisclosed equity stake.
Brady has always been selective with his off-field partners and is currently tied to Under Armour, IWC, Wheels Up, Christopher Cloos and Fanatics. His TB12 brand, which launched in 2013 with his trainer and business partner, Alex Guerrero, and is named for his jersey number, sells apparel, supplements, training accessories and operates three training facilities .
