Scientists engineered ultra-thin semiconductor fibres fuelling the development of smart wearables–beanie hats, smart shirts, and smartwatches

Wearable electronics have swiftly evolved from novelty gadgets to indispensable tools in our daily lives, seamlessly integrating technology into the very fabric we wear.It seems there is innovation everywhere you turn, and now you can even wear a technologically active outfit.

Conventional manufacturing methods often result in stress-induced cracks and deformities, which undermine the performance and viability of these fibres. The NYU research team showcased the practicality and versatility of these semiconductor fibres through a series of prototypes.
