Jones, who works as community and political coordinator for Unite Here, the North American Hospitality Workers union, has been a resident of the Castro since he first moved to the city as a 19-year-old in 1973, subsequently befriending Harvey Milk and working in his office while he studied political science at San Francisco State University.
But Kue told the Chronicle she is also seeking a hearing on her petition from the San Francisco Rent Board, claiming she “wants Cleve to continue the tenancy” and will be “gracious and accepting of the law.”
Before owning his current home in Guerneville, he also owned a home in Palm Springs. He’s deliberately avoiding buying a home in SF in order to abuse the City’s rent control policy and subsidize his pied a terre.

rent control board will absolutely rule in his favor. My landlord tried to do the same exact thing to me and he was sooo pissed when I called him and read him the rent control board’s decision. Finally lost the apartment to an owner move-in though.
He *has* a cottage in Guerneville? I am not supporting landlords who abruptly increase rents. But you should not live in rent controlled apartment in SF, if you own a house outside SF. Both parties are greedy. It completely beats the purpose.
