of the city’s assistant police chief is over. While nothing illegal was found, the assistant chief has decided to step down anyway.
According to the mayor’s office, Capt. Natasha Fowlkes came under suspicion last month when someone in the police department accused her of an undisclosed illegal activity. The police department’s internal affairs department began investigating while Fowlkes was placed on paid administrative leave. The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office was brought in to investigate. Mayor James Perkins says the sheriff’s department and District Attorney Robert Turner jointly determined “this was not a criminal offense,” and Fowlkes was cleared of any criminal wrongdoing.
Perkins said that after discussing the matter with Fowlkes, she has chosen not to resume her duties. The mayor accepted her resignation, effective immediately. “As far as I am concerned, this matter is closed and we now continue moving forward,” Perkins said in a news release.Woman saves her own life during attempted murder
