The Selma Police Department is now missing not one, but two members of its leadership staff after the assistant chief of police was placed on administrative leave, according to the mayor’s office.

SELMA , Ala. -

Asst. Police Chief Natasha Fowlkes was placed on administrative leave with pay Wednesday while an internal investigation is conducted, Mayor James Perkins Jr., said in a statement. The exact reason for her leave has not been disclosed. An investigation will be handled by an outside agency for the sake of ‘integrity and transparency,’ the mayor said.

Fowlkes was most recently named the acting police chief in the wake of Perkins’s decision to place Police Chief Kenta Fulford on on administrative leave for a second time.
