Family members of a Texas couple missing in Moab prepared to fly to Utah Friday morning a week after a search began for Ray and Maranda Ankofski, who failed to return from their outing during flash floods.
The search and rescue efforts being made to find a couple who went missing in Moab has transitioned to recovery efforts. Ray and Maranda Ankofski went missing on June 21 during one of their annual Moab trips, officials and family said. Their vehicle was found and reported as abandoned when they did not return from an off-road trip in the area, officials said.
While efforts were "swiftly initiated" by Grand County Sheriff's Office and 11 other agencies, the couple still had not been found as of Friday night, officials said.Search and rescue underway for 2 missing in Moab area days after flash flooding A press release stated, "The decision to transition from a search and rescue mission to a recovery was made based on evidence at the scene during the operation.
