A person was fatally shot Friday night in the parking lot of a Lincoln Park apartment complex, San Diego police said.
Few details of the incident were immediately available, but the shooting occurred around 9:15 p.m. off Logan Avenue near South 49th Street, San Diego police Officer Robert Heims said. Paramedics took the victim away from the scene in an ambulance, but the person later died, Heims said. Homicide detectives were investigating the shooting.
Footage from OnScene TV showed firefighters, police officers and paramedics performing CPR on the victim as large crowds gathered nearby standing behind police tape. After the victim was taken from the scene, officers placed evidence markers on the ground, including where at least one shell casing fell.
