Scuffle breaks out at Rep. Katie Porter's town hall

A melee broke out at Rep. Katie Porter’s district town hall meeting Sunday, with her supporters scuffling with supporters of former President Trump who were loudly interrupting the congresswoman as she spoke.

“My team and I are evaluating next steps, but my promise to Orange County families is that I will continue to hold town halls and to be in conversation with them.”Porter was referring to an Instagram post by Nick Taurus, who says he is running against her in the midterm elections. On Thursday, he invited supporters to join him at the town hall to “CONFRONT KATIE PORTER!”

A brief scuffle breaks out involving a few opponents of Rep. Katie Porter as she conducts a town hall meeting with constituents at Irvine’s Mike Ward Community Park. “I’m really excited to have kids here with us today, and I want this to be a very family-friendly environment, even as we talk about the hard issues,” Porter said.As she spoke, a handful of protesters shouted “Carpetbagger Katie!” and “Corrupt Katie Porter.” They continued to interrupt her as she spoke about climate change, COVID-19 vaccinations and other topics.

Too bad she can’t work with people across the aisle. Too confrontational and isolated to get things done. She’s an example of the problems in Congress.

Stop using the passive voice and both-sidesing what happened. At a civil discussion, a groups intent on disrupting the event attacked those who were defending it. The instigator was this guy seen in September 2020 also seen aggressively attacking people

I disagree with the picture the protesters painted of the Congresswoman Porter, as a 'billionaire's something' I find her a champion for children and their parents of any age and any status and a defender of public health and safety for all the populace.

Yeah, I attended one for Lou Correa a few years back and it had a pretty similar ending. Orange County is a mess, politically speaking.
