NASA 12s eliminate League City all-stars 9-7

League City all-star Landon Johnston slides home with the first of three runs in the second inning Saturday night as catcher Tyler Stroud checks for location of the ball. You mean there’s another quality pitcher besides Tanner Richards on the NASA Area Little League 12s all-star roster?

Noah Saucedo picked up the save in notching the last two outs, while going 4-for-4 in the clean-up slot with a pair of RBIs. Speaking of Monday night, both NASA and League City were trying to get by without their aces for a possible Monday appearance. NASA’s youngster on the mound worked, League City’s didn’t.

“I didn’t do very well the first two innings, gave up some hits, but then I started working on the curveball and I finished the game with that. Eventually, I stopped getting mad about anything that happened. I have a sidearm pitch that I throw a lot and I throw a slider,” Vernau said. The defensive hero in that stretch was second baseman Brandt Smith. He ended the second inning with a web gem, lunging to his left to snag a Bornscheuer liner. In the fifth, he smothered a McGee sizzler and threw to first. He did make an error later in the fifth, but his mistake was left stranded on second base and another runner was left stranded on third.

NASA delays billion-dollar Psyche asteroid mission, orders independent reviewA billion-dollar mission to put an innovative probe into orbit — around a metal-rich asteroid resembling the core of an early planet — is on hold until next summer at the earliest, NASA announced Friday. All the best NASA.🙏And I hope they can begin to learn how to deflect big asteroids/comets off of their trajectories in the event one should be discovered heading straight for the Earth, at relatively short notice. Thank you.🙏
