San Antonio restaurants: Red Lobster closures, Chili's rumor

As one of San Antonio 's Red Lobster locations cracks under a wave of closures nationwide, rumors surfaced that Chili 's could be next on the chopping block. But take them with a grain of salt. Equipment from over 50 Red Lobster restaurants, including one on the South Side , has been listed for auction by reseller TAGeX Brands, the liquidation company announced Tuesday. Two other Texas locations, in Lake Jackson and Longview , are also included in the TAGeX equipment auction.

A popular all-you-can-eat shrimp deal allowed customers to chow down for just $20, which tanked the chain's profits last year, USA Today reported. Fans mourned the floundering restaurant as news of shutdowns spread this week, with widespread agreement about what would be missed most. 'Yes, let me get 42,594 Cheddar Bay Biscuits please,' one X user wrote. As panic ensued online about the sinking of Red Lobster, rumors swirled that another beloved American chain was on the line.
