Pro-Palestinian protesters have until 4 p.m. Thursday to remove tents from Rutgers University’s New Brunswick campus before officials move in “with the assistance of law enforcement, to remove the protesters and their belongings,” the state university’s president said.
A Rutgers spokeswoman said final exams scheduled from noon to 3 p.m. Thursday will continue on the College Avenue Campus, as scheduled. However, the locations of some afternoon finals in New Brunswick are being moved and school officials urged students to check with their departments about changes.
At least 100 faculty members signed up to stand between the protesters and the police to keep the students from being arrested, Wolfson said. “In light of Rutgers University, President Holloway, Board of Governors, the Joint Committee on Investments not acknowledging their Palestinians students and not responding to our divestment request we will not leave Voorhees Mall the same way Palestinians in Gaza refuse to leave their homes until our demands are met,” the advisory said. “ morning we will tell the university that we are not going to our final exams and ask our teachers to cancel them.
