Crew members on the set of"Rust" used guns with live ammunition and engaged in a pastime called"plinking" hours before Halyna Hutchins was killed, founder and CEO of The Wrap, Sharon Waxman, told CNN's Don Lemon Monday night, citing information from an individual with knowledge of the set.
One of the guns used was later handed to actor Alec Baldwin, who fired the shot that killed Hutchins, 42, and injured director Joel Souza, The Wrap reported.Opinion: Guns can be safely used on a film set -- but only if you follow the rules"There's this pastime that crew members sometimes do, it's called 'plinking,' and they go out into the rural areas and they shoot at beer cans. I have done a lot of plinking in my lifetime, but I was taught at a very young age to treat every gun as it is loaded unless you have personally unloaded just unloaded it. All it would have taken is a few extra seconds to check, and make sure the gun wasn't loaded.
Must have been a blast, that plinking. 9 year old Andros will now pay the price of all that fun by no longer having a mum in his life. All the money in the world isn't going to bring her back.
