Rain chances are on the rise heading into today, with a 60% chance to see scattered showers and thunderstorms. Keep the umbrella handy throughout today. Despite the chance of rain, humidity continues to stick around along the Gulf Coast, and this will lead to feels-like temperatures in the triple digits for some areas that stay dry this afternoon! Daytime highs will be in the mid-to-upper 80s and the lower-90s. Stay hydrated and take plenty of breaks if spending any time outdoors.
Overnight, the rain will clear after 10 PM and the skies will stay partly cloudy with temperatures falling into the 70s.Rip current risks are HIGH today through the end of the week! Please be careful at the local beaches! In the tropics, we are tracking two areas of disturbed weather. One is an area of low pressure expected to develop in the Bay of Campeche, which is the far southwestern part of the Gulf, over the next couple of days. A Tropical Depression is possible to form next week. This system will spread rain into Mexico and Texas as it moves northwest over the next several days.
The other area is an area of low pressure expected to form near the Bahamas midweek. Development is not likely, but it will still bring increased rain coverage toward FL/GA.
