"The phenomenon that we're actually seeing is much more about firms wanting to return cash to investors than about a lack of opportunity, and so part of what the president can do, and we can all do, is inform and educate the American public about what the facts are here," she continued."There is not a lack of places to drill. This is not a lack of access to oil.
Psaki added,"It's really up to the oil companies to determine whether they are going to, as well as Wall Street, whether they're going to reinvest these work profits from high prices back into the economy, raise production, and lower prices to American consumers, and that pressure should be on them."Biden, while unveiling his blanket ban on Russian energy imports, flatly warned U.S. oil companies against profiting off the supply shortage caused by the ban.
