"In light of The Duke of Edinburgh’s passing, The Duke of Cambridge will no longer be part of BAFTA programming this weekend," the BAFTAs explained in a statement, per."Our thoughts are with the Royal Family, to whom we offer our deepest sympathy at this time." The 2021 BAFTA ceremony will be broadcast over two nights to accommodate virtual appearances from guests in accordance with COVID-19 guidelines. Prince William was scheduled to make two appearances over the course of the weekend, a virtual conversation with costume designer Jenny Beavan and hair and makeup designer Sharon Martin and then a speech on Sunday celebrating the resilience of the British film and television industries amidst the coronavirus pandemic.
I guess they can’t make jokes about him and the Oprah interview now, so he dodged that bullet.
