PREP BASEBALL ROUNDUP: New Brockton downs G.W. Long; Wyatt Shelley powers Headland win

Staff Reports New Brockton scored four runs in both the third and fourth innings to back four pitchers who contained G.W. Long to three hits during an 8-2 Gamecock win over the Class 2A fourth-ranked Rebels in high school baseball action Tuesday night in New Brockton.

Four pitchers worked for New Brockton. Hunter Bedsole started and went three innings, allowing all three G.W. Long hits and two runs. He struck out one and walked one. Hunter White, Josh Gutierrez and Trent Smith combined on four hitless and scoreless innings of relief. Guitierrez had two strikeouts and Smith one.

Enterprise 20-22, JAG 0-1: Enterprise swept a Class 7A, Area 3 doubleheader over JAG on Tuesday, winning 20-0 and 22-1. Offensively, Richardson had two hits and four runs batted in and Vanderheyden had two hits and three runs batted in. Pittman Hall had two doubles and two RBI and Conner Cruitt had two singles and two RBI. Boutwell also had two hits. Maund had a hit with two RBI and five players – Owens, Henderson, Martin, Walker Turner and Reid Burns – had a hit and RBI each.

Dale County 2, Slocomb 0: Four Dale County pitchers combined on a three-hit shutout and the Warriors scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth to take a 2-0 Class 4A, Area 2 win over Slocomb. Pike Liberal Arts 6, Carroll 0: Four Pike Liberal Arts pitchers combined on a two-hit shutout and seven strikeouts in the Patriot win.

Opp 10, T.R. Miller 2: Porter Nelson and Cash Harrell combined to limit T.R. Miller to four hits and two runs. Six players had a hit each for Daleville – Javyier Brannen, Kristian McDonald, Montez Malone, Ruben Garcia, Zuri Scott and Isaiah Testerman . Scott, Malone and Isaac Testerman had an RBI each.

Lunsford was the winning pitcher, striking out five over six innings and giving up four hits and three unearned runs. Charles Henderson 8, Zion Chapel 3: Bradley Prestwood pitched five innings of no-hit ball with three strikeouts and one unearned run allowed and Trenton Bryan pitched the final two innings, allowing two hits and two runs with four strikeouts for CHHS.
