PREP BASEBALL: New Brockton scores late to down Ariton

Staff Reports New Brockton scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to down Ariton 2-1 in high school baseball action on Thursday afternoon.

Headland 7, Carroll 1: Logan Ivey had three hits, including a double, and drove in two runs and Wade Shelley had two hits and scored three runs to lead Headland to a Class 5A, Area 3 win over Carroll.Evan Taylor struck out seven in a complete-game performance, allowing six hits, one run and a walk.

For Rehobeth, JC Chumney had three hits, one a triple, while both Colton Trotter and Jacob Shiver had a single and RBI each. Colon was the winning pitcher, striking out 10 and allowing three hits in four innings in the six-inning game.G.W. Long 13, Luverne 3: Bryson McCrea was 4-for-4 with a double and two runs batted in, and Will Bush had a single, double and a RBI to lead G.W. Long.

Weed, the winning pitcher, went three innings and struck out five. Hartzog pitched two innings and also struck out five. Weed walked two and Hartzog one. Cayleb Andrews, Birge, Jaxon Langham, Gage Gilland and Brody Keel all had two hits with Birge, Langham and Gilland driving in two runs each and Keel one run. Hayes Hatton had a double and two RBI. Both Maddox King and Will Hatton added a hit and RBI.

Offensively, Luke Barron had three hits for the Patriots, while John Lott and Cole Garrott both had a hit with two RBI. Houston Gunter, Elliott and Jack Baggett all had a hit and RBI. Parker Adams was the winning pitcher, working 6 2/3 innings and striking out three. Pugh earned a save by recording the final out.

Jones was the winning pitcher, striking out six over 4 1/3 innings. He gave up three hits and four runs. Judd Green worked the last 1 2/3 innings and struck out two.
