"Color of Change brought an issue to light about the way venues with a history of slavery describe their properties to couples," the company said."We're currently working with Color of Change to create additions to our current content guidelines that will ensure all couples feel welcomed and respected on our sites."
The ignorant and shortsighted people who want to put these places out of business don’t care about all the workers and small businesses that provide jobs and put food on the table of today’s Americans.
Stop the bullshit. No bride goes to a venue like that and says,” I want my wedding here because slaves were here.” The say,” Look at the beautiful house. I want my wedding here.” We can’t rewrite history, just acknowledge it and make it better.
Are you kidding me it's a wedding get a life folks
Political correctness is over the edge. What next? No advertising of travel to Japan & Germany because of the atrocities they committed in WWII. Ban all travel to South Africa. Brazil, Australia you could be on the list too. We should learn from history not try & change it.
You can’t repurpose a statue or a flag, but you can repurpose a building, while it might make you 😬, knowing that an old building with a horrible pass has a new meaning for love can’t be all bad. The Capitol building was built by slaves and they’re not tearing it down...
What a stupid article.

If you want to get married at Mt. Vernon, Monticello, or the Hermitage ... sorry. Despite their historical significance, they were once plantations.
A house isn’t evil, it’s not oppressive, it’s just a house. Focus on the real problems of racism.
I just finished watching 12 years a slave
That’s stupid.
Good.
Can I say the building looks nice, or is that irrelevant?
People are now getting triggered by buildings ?
FFS it's a farm... the liberal media loves to stir the division in America. Dear reader, I'm a gay, mixed race, Republican, Male, and I have no animosity towards any creed, color, nationality, sexual orientation, identity. Don't let CNN not ABC convince you of otherwise.
What a load of shit! Get married where ever the hell you want!
MarshaWarfield didnt you mention something along the lines of ppl doing this or even wanting to buy/live in plantations.
Hallelujah and Amen. Exactly...
I agree with your feelings.
Don't care.
There are a lot of beautiful plantation buildings in the US. Celebrate the architecture and stop hating. To many Americans it's simply a chance to get married in a big, beautiful, rich persons house for not much money. Stop fueling racial hate with divisions over architecture.
Geez now they are gonna tell us where we can get married! Pretty done we will be called a kingdom instead of a country
