might be a source of inspiration for many brides and grooms, but don't expect to see any pictures of it.
This is because wedding sites like The Knot and Pinterest are no longer featuring weddings that took place at plantations. It's a move that is drawing both controversy and praise, because, understandably, plantations are a divisive place. For people who are unaware, plantations in the south are largely known for using slave labor to cultivate coffee, cotton, sugar, etc. Sure, they're a beautiful backdrop for weddings and parties, but as the civil rights group Color of Change points out,to Buzzfeed News,"Plantations are physical reminders of one of the most horrific human rights abuses the world has ever seen."
"The decision to glorify plantations as nostalgic sites of celebration is not an empowering one for the Black women and justice-minded people who use your site," the organization wrote in a letter to the Knot Worldwide executives, as well as Pinterest. "The wedding industry routinely denies the violent conditions Black people faced under chattel slavery by promoting plantations as romantic places to marry.
Pinterest, however, is taking things one step further. They are going through the process of removing photos of plantations and issuing warnings that content like such violates their brand policies. A Pinterest spokesperson stated,"Weddings should be a symbol of love and unity. Plantations represent none of those things. We are working to limit the distribution of this content and accounts across our platform, and continue to not accept advertisements for them.
We should just ban the entire world then. Soon no one will be able to go anywhere or say anything. It already seems that way. Pain and torture has been endured worldwide. If we hold onto pain and suffering forever it’ll never go away.
THE PLANET IS DYING AND THIS IS WHAT PEOPLE ARE CHOOSING TO FOCUS ON WTF? Y'all need your priorities to be fucking checked. Half the world is on fire at this moment
Why?

One of my favourite couple❤
So sick of all of this political correctness. It's all so ridiculous.
This is one of the stupidest things I’ve heard today. The land & home didn’t do this...the evil men who lived there did. Plantations are gorgeous properties. Ppl these days are so sensitive for no reason. Always looking for a reason to create controversy.
I imagine there are very few still alive that bore this suffrage. ...and maybe these plantations are trying to change their image and actually the land was never at fault and the slave owners of the property are also likely long dead...can we catch up
I know the answer but I still have to laugh! 😂😂😂
the lede in this article...yikes
A plantation by definition is a large farm or estate. If they said they got married on a farm would people be less upset If it was an estate they would catch crap for being extra!
Finally !
